Welcome to the 2025 season of maybe shutting the government down.
The weeks of performative “resistance” from those in my party were limited to undignified antics.

Voting to shut the government down will punish millions or risk a recession.

I disagree with many points in the CR, but I will never vote to shut our government down.

Another good reason is that you will never be as productive with Spark as you are with the SQL columnar analytic databases. You need complicated logic not available? Drop to a map-only job in Spark/Beam/whatever and load the result back to your SQL engine.
The strongest reason to use SQL in data engineering is that SQL is hermetic (no dependencies) and *very* slowly changing.

This thought brought to you by exposure to companies that are still using Spark features deprecated 5 years ago.
