no one who fits your run–of-the-mill DNI criteria has ever been deterred by a "[insert thing] DNI".
DNIs are less effective than the websites asking you to click a button to confirm you're 18 years or older. a genuinely malicious person isn't going to read "DNI Malicious People" and go "gee, guess that's me!" and walk away. you're much more likely to stall some innocent person that frets and overthinks if they count as "malicious" simply because they said something vaguely mean by accident five years ago.
if DNIs have served any purpose, it's to inadvertently force people to present themselves as the most Morally Correct, most In-The-Know about Current Events, Completely Faultless husk of a human one can feasibly be in the online space where the absence of denunciation can be misconstrued as some arbitrary evidence of guilt. you don't have [insert horrible thing] in your list? then CLEARLY you support that Horrible Thing and you're a Horrible Person! don't mention if you're for or against [insert human rights movement]? fuck you, then! guess you don't care about other people!
