Liverpool Hope hosts one of the most important and influential Disability Studies departments in the UK. Their emphasis on literary and cultural disability studies has produced research that has radically shaped thinking in the discipline and beyond and they have huge international reach.
For the morning crowd - please do sign and share. Every single one of my former #DisabilityStudies colleagues at Liverpool Hope is at risk of redundancy. This isn't just about individuals; it's a threat to the field itself.
Jill Pluquailec of Sheffield Hallam has organised an open letter laying out the impact on #DisabilityStudies as a field - please do share and sign [add a comment with your info]

I have broken my finger and can’t touch type atm so I’m using built-in speech to text tools to type for me.They are brilliant! I am amazed and grateful at how useful the little microphone icon is. Will I ever bother using my fingers again?

I am finding all this ‘Chris McCauseland is AMAZING because he is a good dancer AND blind’ stuff actually rather patronising and dangerously close to the dreaded inspiration porn. As a partially blind person I am cross that he is getting pity/tragedy votes #strictly

I love that you can set BlueSky to require you to add alt text to images… but I can’t work out how to add #alttext to my banner image. Anyone know how?

Go to Settings > Accessibility and make sure "Require alt text before posting" is toggled on.
