auramarleywrites on instagram: Fine. Fuck it. I'll say it: Boycotting fanfic writers and new debut authors because of JKR isn't effective—it's hypocritical. Who ACTUALLY makes JKR the bulk of her money and gives her the biggest platform? 1.) Her publishers, Scholastic and Bloomsbury. Have you cut ties with them? Are you refusing to read other authors (Sarah J. Mass, Samantha Shannon, etc.) who are signed with these houses? 2.) Warner Brothers. Have you stopped watching their films? 3.) Universal Studios 4.) LEGO?! The list goes on, These corporations funnel the TERF far more money and visibility than any fanfic writer, debut author, or actor ever could. And yet, most of us still engage with them in some way. I understand it feels easier to call out individuals than to take on massive corporations. It gives us the illusion of making a difference. But in reality, all it does is turn us into bullies. And hypocritical ones at that. Unfollow me. Cancel me. Idgaf. This is exhausting auramarleywrites: Boycotting fandom writers because of JKR isn't just ineffective-it's hypocritical.
