come to gormenghast way too late but glad i finally have done so. as someone who thinks susannah clarke is the best fantasy writer going it's very fun to see where the clear influences are in mervyn peakes stuff

so much of this I think is cynically trying to shame men for doing normal things they enjoy in order to push them towards the (very profitable) and toxic industry of how the right think that men should be acting. "your life sucks heres how to be happier" has been a core advertising tenet forever

ive been replaying ffxii and while i definitely don't love it I really appreciate its art style, every frame looks like a (renaissance?) style painting and is much nicer than the pseudo realistic style they've gone for since
