In clinical practice, the results of this study align with what we see: Psychiatric illnesses, especially depressive illness, can have significant effects on cognitive functioning, and adequate appreciation of this reality allows both patients and providers to engage in a more nuanced discussion

Without delving into the greater question of BL vs RUL, this study underscores the importance of the primary goal of treatment - to induce remission of depressive symptoms, and points to the fact that adequate treatment of depressive symptoms will be a central factor in cognitive outcomes.

There is a constant effort, on the treating psychiatrist, to reduce the risk of adverse cognitive outcomes, which often manifests in the preferential selection of unilateral and ultra-brief pulse.

The second point is what is most important, in my mind. We are limited by our study durations re: differences in cognitive outcomes with varying electrode placement, etc.
