At a lovely holiday gathering yesterday, I remembered the board game HEARTTHROB, which my older sister had when we were young. WOW. No one seemed to have an issue with making money from a game endorsing pre-teen girls lust after, uh, not pre-teen men!

Halloween always makes me think of one of my favorite Oz characters, Jack Pumpkinhead. I met him through everyone's favorite creepy kid movie, Return to Oz, before meeting his literary counterpart. I wrote an essay about Jack and pumpkins for The Characters of Oz (2023).
