Carbon cycling and the Earth's climate at NASA and University of Maryland. The Earth Scientist not the actor. I like to ride bikes and slide down mountains in my spare time
This will go down as the most disgraceful and illegal act our govt has done in decades. It can happen to anybody by Trump admins rationale. we are all potentially victims of the autocrat regime that can be dissapeared without rights affored to ANYBODY who is in the US. Or use to be at least.

I think budget cuts for data management, especially earth science satellite data, could be a problem. But we've been pushed to the cloud for so much that maybe the trend will continue and Amazon will house the govs. Earth science data. Is that permanent? Is that free from manipulation?
With the convicted felon Donald Trump returning to office, environmental data face threats, including deletion and budget cuts. People are scrambling to archive and update crucial datasets to ensure access, but concerns remain about the impact of limited access on environmental research and policy.

Ready to see some initial model results of sea-atmosphere CO2 fluxes in the Yukon River plume?? I sure am. Stay tuned 🌊

I'm so stoked to finally have results to publish from my NASA projects on land to ocean carbon cycling that includes in organics. Carbonate chemistry is messing with me though. Expect a highly questionable poster at OCB 🌊

@davidho.bsky.social Hey David can you add me as a contributor to the oceanography feed? Am I doing this right?

Coastal physical oceanography is hard. Add in sea ice and highly seasonal dynamics in the Arctic and it can be confounding. A lot of the time I'm frustrated that I can't figure out reasons for phenomena I see. Then I remember, I'm lucky to have a job that is challenging, that is exploration. 🌊🌊🌊

Now coastal carbon dynamics in high latitude river influenced systems is a whole other ball of wakz. If any expert carbonate chemists want to help quantify C dynamics from river deltas to the shelf hit me up. 🌊

Something to really be proud of. People worked so damn hard to make this happen and see it through.
New: Updated U.S. Government Emissions Projections

Emissions are expected to decline 29-46% by 2030, 36-57% by 2035, and 34-64% by 2040, compared with 2005 levels. This represents about double the 2030 emissions reductions projected before the passage the IRA & BIL 🔌💡

Writing papers is hard. Writing papers on new models and cal/val is annoying. Combining the two makes for a wonderful process 🥰
