Forager, chef and now somehow running a tearoom on the Isle of Mull.
Went for a hike and stumbled across the old slipway where David would have sailed from Torosay to Lochaline in Robert Louis Stevensons - Kipnapped. No longer in use. #torosay #isleofmull #robertlouisstevenson

We set up our final camp by a standing stone atop a hill in #Berneray. Northern lights were visible but it was rainy and foggy so hard to see. We woke up to heavy rain, packing down quickly before beginning our journey back home.

Success. We completed our four day hike and arrived at Berneray, on foot across #Barra, #benbecula, #northuist totally approximately 60 miles over four days. Quite a feat for us having never attempting anything like this before. #hebrideanway

We crossed the causeway to Berneray just as the sun was setting. The race was now on to find a camp spot before it got dark. #outerhebrides

A quick stop at the last stream of the journey to resupply on murky brown water to cook that evenings dinner. It’ll look a lot more appealing after it’s filtered I promise. #hebredeanway

Completely exhausted but nearing the end of our four day hike, the island of #Berneray is visible on the horizon after having scaled our final hill in #northuist #hebrideanway #outerhebredes

I’ve never seen as many swans as I’ve seen here in Uist. Apparently they migrate here for the winter from Iceland. #swans #uist

Googly eyes are on every single animal crossing sign we came across in the #outerhebrides

I tried to take a photo to show how bleak and desolate the landscape looked and this is what I got. In a few weeks the whole scenery will change as the shoots of spring emerge and wildflowers erupt from the surface. #hebrideanway #northuist

The final leg of the journey was the most gruelling. Our forth day of consecutive hiking with our heavy packs. I’d suffered a small ankle sprain which slowed us down. The scenery made up for it. I was fascinated by all the shells of old buildings that littered the landscape. #hebrideanway #northuist

High tide, low tide sculpture. Part of the sculpture trail around #lochmaddy . Sadly we were unable to visit the hut of shadows due to the footbridge being closed, so instead we headed on to the final stretch of our journey.

Our next stop #lochmaddy, a short detour off of the route to visit the #calmac exhibition. Featuring stories and memorabilia relating to the history of Caledonian MacBrayne and how the ferries have helped shape island life in the #hebredes

A stone circle near Langass lodge on the #hebrideanway #northuist #hebrides #outerhebrides
March 24, 2025 at 9:32 AM
The hike continues through North Uist. We were racking up between 12-15 miles per day and hadn’t showered in three days. Very much looking forward to our next stop of #langasslodge a hunting lodge in the hills. #hebrideanway

We took an hours detour to The Scandinavian Bakery, #northuist and were not disappointed. Amazing home baked cinnamon roll, good coffee and some excellent focaccia to take away. After roughing it for days, it was just what we needed #hebrideanway

Benbecula distillery, newly built and soon to open. #benbecula #whisky #distillery

Some shots of our #wildcountry #helm2 and #ddtarp setup on top of #Ruabhal, #Benbecula which helped mitigate the strong winds, enabling us to cook some decent scran on the #trangia
March 24, 2025 at 9:13 AM
After several hours hike, we scaled Ruabhal, the largest (albeit only) hill in Benbecula. We hoped to find a camp spot on the summit, weary of the folk tales of a murderous woman with a beak who haunted some ruins nearby. #hebrideanway #benbecula #ruabhal #outerhebrides

We skipped the next part of the #hebrideanway due to time constraints, catching a bus from Eriskay to Creagorry in southern Benbecula. We continued our hike north into the wilderness.
March 24, 2025 at 9:04 AM
We found a rugged patch of grass by the sea north of the beach in Eriskay. #wildcamping spots are limited on this island due to it being fairly built up for its size. #hebrideanway #helm2

#eriskay ferry terminal. The sun is soon to set so we embark on a mission to find a decent camp spot. #wildcamping #hebrideanway

We found a huge boulder to shelter us from the wind, using the opportunity to whip out the #trangia and enjoy a cuppa #barra #hebredes
