Simple math—inflation means prices went up. Deflation would mean they're going down again. Without deflation, prices remain high. Presumably wages haven't adjusted, so the higher prices cause mounting debt & retrenchment. So people are commensurately pissed off. It's not a lag, it's an accumulation

It’s true that no land “belongs” to anyone who doesn’t live there (& hasn’t for some time), unless the residents vote to thus accede. But by the same token, it’s strange that no one’s reporting on the wishes of the Russian-speaking majority in Donbas. Do they have to stay in Ukr against their will?

No government has any legal right to deport a foreigner to a third country. If the foreigner's home country can't or won't take him, or would abuse him, then the foreigner has a valid claim for asylum in the US.

Yes but it’s also potentially circular: if “lifestyle emissions” are those typical of the relatively affluent, then naturally the relatively affluent emit most of them. Emissions rise with population, whatever their consumption.
