Hades 1 characters and interpersonal storylines were just so much better. I was invested in everyone. While the gameplay of 2 is better than 1, the characters just don't hit the same.

Also they didn't have a scene with Hermes and Charon in the same room, so that's -1.5 off the score on its own.

And this particular fic is super well regarded too. I've long since understood that I'm the pickiest motherfucker when it comes to characters not being OOC in fic but sometimes it really slaps me in the face HOW anal retentive I am about it.

Sometimes characterization can be so offbase but the fic itself is so interesting and good despite it that I just pretend I'm not reading fic anymore and these characters are just named the same as my blorbos. Jayce would never say that, but this person's OC also named Jayce probably would.

Every time Zeus or Hera is like 'hey where the fuck is hermes?' Like Zeus can't canonically feel all the other gods and can only not sense them in the Underworld like mmmmm, yeah I where Hermes is lmao

I should clean up that fic where Hermes gets Charon a godly made strap-on and fun times are had. With new added elements from Hades 2 seeing how Hephaestus is now a character and that would be very funny if Hermes had his brother make his boyfriend a prosthetic penis that was capable of feeling

My favorite godly quartet is Zeus (chain lightning), Hera (damage buffs and making common boons not), Demeter (freeze, upgrading boons, and gust on cast), and Aphrodite (the GOAT. My girl. I agree. That's more a reader problem. Though I have tapped out of a fic when Viktor is non stop called feminine and delicate to a point it feels like the writer is three paragraphs from comparing him to a flower, but that's personal preference on how my guy Viktor is described lmao

Idk ever since seeing that post, I've thought about it a lot. Also, Jayce isn't written in these fics to be gagging for it in a 'show don't tell way' and is usually also thinking about topping Viktor later, or Viktor is thinking about getting topped, which adds to my above point.

This isn't an indictment of the writer(s). Their preferences are on display and their own want to instinctively sooth readers that what is happening in this fic is a one off or a rarity and all will be back to normal in the presumptive timeline of the fics canon.
