Finished my yearly re-read of @colindickey.com's GHOSTLAND, one of the best books I've ever found on our cultural fondness for ghosts and what the stories we tell about them say about us in return. A fantastic read even if spooky season is (technically) over!

Had the joy of reading @keezyyoung.bsky.social's HELLO SUNSHINE, one of the best graphic novels I've read all year. It brings an essential perspective on horror fiction and mental health, and I can't recommend it enough.

Picked up @kateelliottsff.bsky.social's THE WITCH ROADS intending to read a chapter before bed, couldn't sleep until I finished it! If you want incredible worldbuilding and compelling characters, this is a great book to pick up.

Emily Yu-Xuan Qin's AUNT TIGRESS is one of the best books I've read all year. A perfect blend of mythology and reckoning with family trauma and confronting the wrongs done by those closest to you.

Another great book I read this month was Barbara Truelove's OF MONSTERS AND MAINFRAMES! The story pulled me in from the vary start with a truely inventive approach to combining sci-fi and fantasy. If you enjoy Murderbot, you'll probably like this!

One of the things I want to do is promote more books I really like, so! A fantastic comic I recently read is Volume 1 of BLADES OF FURRY. Great art, deeply engaging characters, and a plot that somehow involves both figure skater battles AND vampires. What more could you want?

My 2025 goal is to catch up on all the reading I meant to do last year (and save some money on not buying more books that go unread). First from the bookpile is Leigh Bardugo's HELL BENT, well worth reading at last.

Bog basic New Year's dinner of ham (pork), sauerkraut, and spaetzle. The spaetzle needs butter, but I don't have any. You need to eat this for good luck in the new year if you're whatever kind of German American I am.
