Sounds like a fantastic and fun class.

Any loving parent will discipline their kid if they're caught stealing or cheating. They will remind their kid that those aren't our values and that the kid can do better.
Same goes for the country. That's love.

I could have written so much the same. Being held to rules I couldn’t keep up with or understand was an incredibly stressful way to grow up, so I always just tried to be the best and most perfect. Nothing else was safe.

As someone who took all that “liberty and justice for all” stuff seriously…AMEN.

Took me a while, but I eventually realized that talking about myself that way was insulting to god. I mean, if they’re so great, they didn’t make crap. And my sole purpose isn’t to reject who I am.

If someone is actually interested in reducing abortions, a better question is: How can we reduce the number of abortions being sought? Weird how rarely that question comes up. 🙄

FWIW, it’s also why I love reading fiction with heroes who set an example of how to be brave.

Sometimes I think that feeling we think we’re supposed to have when we “feel confident” or “feel ready” is actually arrogance. I mean, you’re never guaranteed it’ll work out like you want. Better to trust you can handle however it turns out.
