Actually more cheerful than my online presence would suggest.
I post a lot about my hair and my search for miracle potions. And TV. Lots of TV. A bit of football stuff. I'm not very deep.
Also, Rock Hudson was so unbelievably handsome.

Like a Hollywood Szoboszlai.

She's fabulous

Oh exactly that.

Yeah, and lifestyle. But unless you've got a specific skin issue and need something prescription strength the fanciest off the shelf stuff doesn't *do* anything above cold cream - it's just packaged nicely and feels luxurious. Which is fine and I get it, but just do it without the ridiculous claims.

I'm a hypocrite on that front. I've more make up than I could ever use but I'm seduced by colours and sparkles. I hardly ever wear it though & I'm terrible at applying but I do love the artistry. At least we all know make up is just face paint with no bogus claims about anti ageing or whatever.

Same with hair stuff - it should take months to get through a single bottle of serum but these people are somehow going through stuff weekly?

And again, spouting out nonsense claims that they wouldn't make if they actually understood what they were saying (or they probably would if price is right).

I dunno. It takes me months to get through a pot of cream. Probably 6+ months if it's my beloved Astral. But these influencers flog a different potion every week and seem to inherently know that's why their skin looks so good (but it could be the fillers or filters - who knows?).

And fuck me, it's reminding me of the Runcorn by-election where paternalistic messages of what's good for Runcorn delivered on social media by people who had zero knowledge of Runcorn bordered on offensive.

Legit getting vibes of Hyancinth Bucket's dreary neighbour.

Oh and refrain from using your experience of the job market 20, 10 or even 2 years ago. It's changed. Massively.

And I know they will absolutely hate this but proof read their CVs and personal statements. Get rid of passive language. Get them to be more emphatic about the things they've done and what they've learned.
November 16, 2025 at 7:26 AM
Don't keep on at them about whether they've applied for stuff. They're applying! There's just hardly anything out there. But make them aware that many jobs close early if they've had an avalanche of applications - get in early!
November 16, 2025 at 7:26 AM
I know it's the done thing to show you've prepared your kids for the real world and you're no sucker but if you can afford to, let them stash any wages they get from a minimum wage, zero hours job because they may well need this money if they don't get any hours or they've got to move away for work.

Could never decide between Jon (sophisticated) and Donny (rugged). Never Joe or Jordan (too pretty). Or Danny.
