Day 6: We made it to the tractor plant that gave this neighborhood its name, the KhTZ plant. It produced over 3 million tractors and agricultural machines since its creation in the 1930s. it became the industrial backbone of Ukraine. It still employs close to 1k workers. #virtualwalk4peace #Ukraine

Five days of walking brings us to the Sports Palace in Kharkiv. This used to be a large multi-use arena hosted volleyball, futsal, and boxing. It was unfortunately destroyed by a missile launched from Russia in 2024. #virtualwalk4peace #Ukraine

Day 4 brings us to the KhTZ stadium. This area is near an educational district with pre-schools, middle and high schools, private schools, and vocational schools. Although the stadium is run down it is the main point for youth & adult recreational sport in KhTZ. #virtualwalk4peace #Kharkiv #Ukraine

The third day of travel takes towards the metro station in KhTZ. Here we find Pam'yatnyk Radyans'komu Soldatu. This monument may sit on another mass grave, this one from the battles of WWII when the Red Army faced the Germans in Kharkiv. It has a haunting beauty that I love. #virtualwalk4Peace

day 2 brings us to KhTZ in Kharkiv. This district was set up as a residency for factory workers in the tractor factory (since destroyed by Russia) which was built in the 1930s. This neighborhood is considered one of the poorest, though I find it stunning to look at. #virtualwalk4peace

On Day One I walked to the neighborhood of Piatykhatky in Kharkiv. This neighborhood is the site of a mass burial of soviet citizens killed by the KGB against Polish nationals. These mass murders were known as the Katyn massacres. #history #virtualwalk4peace

This is why we need a well funded education system in America. I don't know which is worse, the fact that an elected representative believes this nonsense or the fact that she was elected in the first place. #science #climatechange

Day 2 of Fashion Advent. Today we are looking at the male fashion from the 1600s. The thing that stood out for me was the rose flour embroidery on the high heeled shoes and the flower garter wear his britches meets his hose. It is interesting how in today's society this look would be very feminine.

Day 1 of Advent... 1660s winter dress. I really like the fur hand warmer. The way the fur is pulled up along the waist of the dress is also a very interesting touch. This piece is very cool.
