It's one thing to lament loss of life and decry political violence, but this revisionism is shockingly dishonest and downright offensive to the millions of people Kirk targeted and upon whom he inflicted pain and misery. The man was a liar and a bigot who gladly hurt others to advance himself.
The best way to honor Charlie's memory is to continue his work: engage with each other, across ideology, through spirited discourse. In a democracy, ideas are tested through words and good-faith debate — never through violence.

Please keep me in mind the three juveniles in critical condition after the shooting this afternoon at Evergreen High School west of Denver. We don't know the motivation of that shooter either (who is one of the three, apparently) -- but this kind of gun violence has no place in our society.
