Time to update this thing...

I love @DuckDuckGo but recently find the image search is really bad. For some searches it comes up completely empty where google image search has thousands of results.

I've gone through my settings and don't see anything obviously wrong. Is this just a thing? Or is it just me?

I know I can do […]

I love this illusion and plan to use it in a book. But whenever I want to use it, I find many different versions on line, usually with no attribution. So I coded my own. It was fun. And honestly, I had to pull it into gimp and use the eyedropper tool to ensure […]

I'm curious what languages and frameworks people are using for creative coding. Beyond the obvious ones of JavaScript, p5.js, Processing, CairoGraphics (which has bindings for many languages). Mostly looking for 2D drawing, not so much 3D or shaders.

Python? what's are the popular frameworks there?

Took a diversion from writing to start working on a cover.

Continuing to convert my 14 coding curves blog posts to an actual book. I got the first 7 done last week. But since then, only did one. Granted, I almost totally re-wrote chapter 8 and it was a busy week at work. But I'm more than half way through chapter 9. Probably another week. And I might […]

My wife already uses lactose free milk, so we have plenty of that on hand.

ugh. I wanted to watch something on Apple TV, though it pained me to do that. I figured I'd do a free trial. Clicked in and it said it would send a code to my Apple devices. I don't have any Apple devices. Well, I do have a Air, but didn't want to go find it. I just hate the assumption that you […]

Just noticed that I'll have been on Mastodon for 6 years come Saturday. Wow.

Actually my first account here was in 2018. But decided it "wasn't for me." Came back in 2020 and was on-again-off-again for a while. Started spending more time here throughout 2022 and officially killed my twitter […]

Note from a segment of a meeting today that was extremely Pro-AI and exploring how we can accelerate the use of AI across the team. The cognitive dissonance is overwhelming.

Do not trust the assistants. AI assistants:
- lie
- make up non-existent (very plausible-sounding) software features.
- […]

I had to let one of my engineers go today. It's always the worst thing. But this was the second time where a person I was letting go asked if they could stay around to finish up the last bit of work they were doing so they weren't just dumping it on someone else. It always amazes and hurts even […]

Company swag this year was custom designed shoes. It was at our big offsite during the main dinner last month. There were stations where you could pick a shoe, colors, customize it all to heck. Mine arrived today. My first Converse.

I've seen this kind of announcement that a company is shutting down a service/product, then backing off and saying it will be in maintenance mode so often in the past few years, mostly with vendors my company uses/used.

I've begun to believe that this is how they plan it from the start. That […]

Well Adobe is "not killing Animate". Uh huh. Just putting it in maintenance mode. I'm sure that will be great.

I can afford to be snarky since I don't use/depend on this software. Sorry.

I had three basic hoodies that I wear every day all winter. Recently I found I was down to one.

I found one in my daughter's laundry and stole it back. Couldn't figure out where the third was though.

This morning I went to the dentist and guess what was hanging in the waiting room. For around […]

I feel for those people who depend on Adobe Animate, but after watching Adobe make catastrophically wrong decisions over and over on this platform, going back almost 20 years, it's hardly surprising.

- Flash was an amazing animation and game creation tool. So Adobe tried to turn it into a "Rich […]

I reported the site that ripped off my old site to sell trading software to the registrar where the domain is registered.

They said they wanted to help and they take abuse very seriously.

Then they asked for my copyright/trademark certificate. Sigh. OK. Thanks. Bye.

But of course they are "AI Handwarmers"!
