We are going to need a lot of poetry, art, satire, and music to get us through these next few years. Heart-rending, earth-breaking, soul-ripping, human made and human lived. Hug your loved ones, embrace your neighbors, stand for your communities and your values. Never get down on your knees.

Hey BlueSky! Word's out that US states will retain their authority to regulate AI. Senate just voted 99-1 against a ban on AI regulation that had been included in the OBBB (One Big Beautiful Bill).

Nice to see something done right. Huge thanks to Senator Blackburn!

This is real and it is raw. Courage, that is. May we all hold the line on our own floors.
Frost: Tonight the people stealing are not folks with tattoos and hoodies but people wearing suits and ties and congressional pins sitting in the capitol now, not in some alley wrapped in darkness but the United States congress wrapped in the flag. It is disgusting and we will never forget this.

I just called my House Member, and BOTH of my US Senators ... Call them to tell them UNEQUIVOCALLY NO on the State AI Regulation Ban.

No joke, we are going to have to repeatedly call these guys. Do it every morning while you’re having your breakfast. Easy peasy!

Time to take your daily dose of the red pill. Call your Senators and representatives... esp. bc they may not know this provision on banning AI regulations for an entire decade has been quietly introduced into the Budget Reconciliation bill.

Yet another issue to repost the hell out of.
Folks call your Senators now!! A ban on any state laws on GenAi for 10 YEARS is gonna do unthinkable harm!

For those of you wondering what to say here are two posts you can use to build your own script (use alt script to cut and paste)

Copyright is breaking down in front of our eyes. The people charged with protecting our right to benefit from the creation of our own works are being fired. Don't scroll past this. Lean in strong and fight for copyright. Spread the word to all your creator friends. Call your reps!
The last few days have been quite dramatic for anyone paying attention to copyright law and policy.

Here's our breakdown of the third and final Copyright Office report on copyright and AI, and the dismissal of the Register of Copyrights, Shira Perlmutter:

These changes to T&C's are always "quiet." Our response should be LOUD.

Use your voice not just to act, or sing, or do spoken word. Use it to stand up for your creators' rights!

Thank you @stardustbluepr.com for keeping us informed.

Narcissism is like microplastics. It's pervasive, relentless, harmful to human well-being, produced from toxic sources deep underground, and it breaks down in full sunlight.

Reduce, refuse, and replace! But please don't recycle and definitely do not reuse.

To enjoy the full length of this path, and to feel the burn in our muscles as we walk, especially the parts with an incline, because that is how we grow to be seasoned travelers.

Lovely to walk along with all of you #writers here. 🖋️. 2/2

The path we writers travel is a long and winding one, dotted with flowers and brambles and rocky outcrops and the worn out shoes of writers who’d passed through before us… but this is precisely the point. 1/2

I love BlueSky. I really do. Feels like a breath of fresh air. Like Substack too, and a few other places.

But taken together, social media sucks up a lot of time. Time you can’t reel back once gone.

If you're a creator, it's especially important to watch your social media diet.

Don’t overdose.

How do you reconcile the words of great wisdom from writers of great renown, with their rather unwise personal behavior behind closed doors? Does their failing in one arena taint their achievement in another?

Writers don't let their writer friends use generative AI to illustrate their essays and articles.

Artists don't let their artist friends listen to AI generated music while painting.

Musicians don't let their musician friends read AI generated novels.

Create responsibly.
