This all to say that my kid’s new toy, a plastic robot riding a hoverboard which blast an eight-second loop of the Crazy Frog version of Axel F at 16kbps through plastic speakers, is a special kind of hell.

This all to say that my kid’s new toy, a plastic robot riding a hoverboard which blast an eight-second loop of the Crazy Frog version of Axel F at 16kbps through plastic speakers, is a special kind of hell.
It was both captivating and alien to my young ears and the album became a staple of my early life. As I aged, I would go on to start and play in synthpop bands, learning keys and synthesis to make sounds like the ones I heard as kid. The song remained a fond reminder of my childhood.
