They really be stacking those rocks.

はい、おしまい。That was a lot more than I had planned.

The other reason I ran out of yen is because I spent it on this garden museum at the top. The plants had all withered by then. 90% of the garden was dead. I legit got scammed. Can't believe it was open. At least they had this plant, which was nice. And one good photo spot.

Last day. Hiked up, and also down, Mt. Hiei because I ran out of money for the cable car. In my defense the tomato juice from the vending machine saved my life.

Nintendo museum was fun. I really liked the art gallery section but no pics allowed. It's really great to see original/concept artwork on paper. Hits different.

So close yet so far away. I would have no qualms about eating Public Persimmons if I could actually reach them.

(And risk getting banned from the country? Naww)

Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji in the pouring rain.

Thought I'd be cool too and feed the crows as well in order to take a nice picture. In the .2 seconds it took to place the potato and press the button:

Somewhere close to Nagoya castle, there was an old man feeding crows, almost by hand, and he invited us over to his shop as I got closer to take a picture. He was selling sweet potatoes. Delicious btw.

We took the bus down on the way back. Dozens upon dozens of tunnels, most of them very straight for the duration. Didn't know it was possible to have so many tunnels and with such length. Really quite mesmerizing.

飛騨の里 (Hida no Sato). Bonus content lul.

More hiking, now in Takayama (Gifu).
November 25, 2025 at 9:02 AM
Hiked up a chunk of the nakasendo. Maybe one day I'll do the whole thing.

People here will stack rocks any chance they get. I saw this everywhere.

I have no idea what this plant is but I saw lots of it as well. It looks neat. And like corn. I wanted to eat one but didn't have health insurance xD

I would have *loved* to see a kingfisher but sadly no such luck on this trip. I did see this adorable kawasemi plush and knew I'd regret it forever if I didn't buy it so I bought it 🙂

Bears, birds, monkeys. Despite the claimed variety of birds, all I managed to see and capture was the butt-end of a bird that isn't even on that list as far as I can tell. Very sad birding trip.

What I mean is raised paths like this where one side should be used per direction of travel and some idiots think HEY IT'S TWO PATHS FOR MY PARTY OF 6 so they can chit chat while we all wait for them to pass. Fuckn shitbags.

Did a day in kamikochi. I believe this was 初雪. Beautiful place. It was extremely busy though, with a few morons who keep blocking paths intended for people walking the opposite direction.

Me, a tourist: ugh tourists

Matsumoto castle.
1. I really liked that shot
2. View from inside, top level
3. You can read this right?

Sunshine Aquarium. Good opportunities for photography practice here but I was really pressed for time :(
November 25, 2025 at 7:40 AM
I don't remember where this was but it had a duck. Somewhere close to Sunshine City I think.

The real Godzilla was much bigger

Went to the art aquarium in Ginza. It's expressly designed for nice photography and that is its only redeeming quality. It looks like shit in person, the soundtrack (which they sell in the giftshop!!) is painful to hear, and it's very expensive for what it is (which is standard Ginza anyway)
