This is what I like to call "The Coffee News" style character design

Thank you so much from the bottom of my secret goth heart. This specific era of NIN design inspired me to apply for and propelled me through graphic design school. Mea culpa I ripped off some And All That Could Have Been layouts for freshman year assignments but I've learned and grown since then ❤️

Had you not been to an event or listened to a speech or video from him before this?

Good point! Can you link to some good reports from Mills rallies? #mepolitics

Should he retire?

You and me both!

Yes she was the only choice against LePage so she won because people voted against him not because people were excited by her. Time has passed, she has vetoed popular policies, she no longer has the same approval ratings or support of the Maine electorate.

I know, it was her re-election and the return of LePage who we enacted ranked choice voting in response to (in a landslide) only to be stymied by the state Supreme Court ruling it couldn't constitutionally apply to governors races. So more of a vote against LePage than for Mills is my point.

Yeah I was here and it felt like anti Republican/LePage sentiment more than a specific endorsement of her as a political leader. I should confess I voted for Betsy Sweet in the primary despite not residing in the midcoast, counter-demographically.
November 11, 2025 at 3:20 AM
Sure, but what are her policies? What bills has she passed and/or vetoed in her tenure? Are they popular with the people of Maine?

He'll certainly have a lot more time!

He's led and organized folks in different circumstances. Besides, wouldn't moral ignorance be better than educated and cynical politicking?

Two hours after Platner though so it really read more as an electoral maneuver than a passionate belief. Has she called for Schumer's resignation for his inability to wrangle the caucus or effectively utilize the bully pulpit of mass and social media?

Betsy Sweet did quite well there but came in third statewide is what I've been seeing lately

Seems like there would have to be some kind of change in his rhetoric to convincingly switch to Republican.
"If I stand with you, will you fight with me? Will you stand up for me?"

My answer:

She did condemn Portland for divesting from Israel last year though.

I feel like people could be broadly anti fascist but not recognize that symbol (I've never seen the Spanish variant you posted for example) just like people could like Star Wars but not be able to pick Wedge's helmet out of a lineup. It's a stupid analogy with less real world impact, but still.

Susan Collins and Paul LePage are different opponents with different appeals. If Mills wins the primary I hope voters see through Collins's well worn moderate act as much as I hope Mills changes her positions on ICE, Israel, unions, tribal sovereignty, taxing billionaires, and worker wages.
October 27, 2025 at 10:08 PM
That's cool, just saying thats why Mainers are nervous she may not be able to.

LePage got lucky because of first past the post elections, he's Maine's Temu Sam Walton and not someone I would consider a superstar. I just don't think Mills electoral achievements translate to a likely win against Collins.
October 27, 2025 at 9:19 PM
LePage won with under 50% in '10 and '14 because independent candidates split the vote. Voters sick of republicans elected Mills (barely) in '18 by 50.9% in a 3-way race. She got 55.7% in '22 because it was a rematch with the now widely hated LePage. Voters settled on her, she's not a juggernaut.
