Happy #LFF to all who celebrate.

Two 20-somethings derp around Melbourne in Sophie Somerville’s #Fwends - playing at this year’s festival.

THE TRAVELERS***** is David Bingong's own journey from Cameroon to Spain, with a group of young men of courage, good humour, but fully aware of the risks. This is playing at the BFI #lff and is urgent and impressive - truly a film for our times.

Oof, didn’t get on with Robin Petre’s Grierson Prize nominated doc Only On Earth** either. Stunning visuals of wildfire prone Northern Galicia but not without its longeurs.

LOVE, BROOKLYN** is a gentle earnest romantic dramedy with a side order of social commentary about gentrification.

The film washed over me like a warm breeze. Inconsequential and forgettable but not entirely unpleasant.

This is a dumb idea. Higher-income patients go private. You can’t fix the NHS this way.

Had an amazing time watching Charlton Brooker discuss Black Mirror. Fucking hilarious and clearly a genius.

For some reason they held the event in Tramp. It was just as louche as you’d expect. I felt the spirit of Alan Clarke committing adultery in the 80s.

I thoroughly enjoyed Andrew Ahn’s new take on Ang Lee’s #TheWeddingBanquet. A superb cast, a masterful intertwining of stories, made me laugh, made me soppy, and Joan Chen remains stunning. Inclusive, full of humanity, “no-one is good enough on their own”. Together we thrive.

The third part of Dag Johan Haugerud's trilogy, DREAMS (SEX, LOVE), is a slippery, nostalgic and occasionally hilarious movie about a teenager's sexual awakening. And it just won the Berlin Film Fest’s Golden Bear!

Ethan Hawke (TRAINING DAY) gives his career-best performance as the charismatic but despairing lyricist Lorenz Hart in Richard Linklater's latest film, BLUE MOON.

Lionel Baier's LA CACHE aka The Safehouse is by turns a delightful, whimsical comedy and an increasingly profound discourse on trauma and co-dependence. I absolutely adored its Anderson-Gondryesque design and layered affecting story.

Thoughts on the latest #BridgetJones flick.

Hugh Grant deliciously superb and a fun cameo from Isla Fisher plus some genuinely moving stuff about grief.

My book buddies do not disappoint. Spread the word about this beautiful, thought-provoking, evocative book!

I even gave it to my mum who has never read a graphic novel in her life.

Absolutely adored this beautiful, moving graphic novel by @kaysohini.bsky.social - about the author falling in love with New York through cinema, TV and great writers and what we leave behind when we move country…

A COMPLETE UNKNOWN is a deeply frustrating biopic of Bob Dylan. Rather than challenging his misogynistic bullshit, the film replicates it. Director James Mangold is not interested in interrogating complexity.

Brady Corbet has crafted a film that speaks to our times. The brutal exercise of power by oligarchs - the othering of immigrants - the violent insecurity of the intellectually inferior - the need for sanctuary in an anti-semitic world:
