Bill Maher warns of a "slow-moving coup — masked police, troops in DC, federalized forces setting up a permanent security state so even if Dems win, Trump won’t give up power.

"The next coup will go a lot smoother than the last one."

In the 90s, I tried making sense of my troubled life by spending my nights in a coffee shop, studying philosophy and writing in a journal. 30 years later, I’m now trying to make sense of our absurd world in our lenai, studying existential philosophy and writing in a journal.

I knew some of the details about France’s colonialism of Africa. But I had no idea of the scale, depth and how recent the horrors have been.

Disgusting.
“She was evicted from her home of 23 years in February and died in May, while homeless, just days short of her 71st birthday."

There was a time in this country when evictions were so rare they sparked riots. Now people are forced out of their homes every single day, and we barely bat an eye.

Heck, imagine praying to a god that said “Now go and smite Amalek and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.’”

I 200% agree. And I’d be willing to disassemble/fold boxes to leave at my door or street for drivers to pick up when delivering. Because if the box is still good, they could reuse it rather than “recycling” them. That could even save them money.
Amazon should be required to have a recycling program for their boxes - seeing all those boxes in trash cans is gross. Bezos leaves a trail of detritus everywhere he goes.

Simple: once a week Amazon sends a truck to a central neighborhood location to collect boxes & reuse.

Anytime I get into a discussion with a Trumper, and I bring up a horrible thing he said or did, they always answer “fake news.”

So I say, “So what you’re saying is if he did do/say that AND there was irrefutable proof, you would THEN say he shouldn’t be president?”

The answer is always…

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.
