Not actually a crypto-owning selfie-taking copyright monkey.
Not only CAN Congress make rules about what the Armed Forces members are allowed to do, they ALREADY HAVE.
And Trump and his subordinates have been breaking them right and left.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Bag was comfy.

Oook?
November 25, 2025 at 7:46 AM
Stopped working for me a while back.

Even if Biden hadn't done it, but some Republican had written that that's the kind of thing Biden MIGHT do, they'd have freaked.

But yeah, VOIP probably does make fax spamming easier to trace.
November 25, 2025 at 3:05 AM
Oh, right - faxes and modems were still primarily analog back then,
and a fairly common issue we had for network backup/monitoring equipment was getting the customer to put a landline close enough to use, or at least borrowing the one from the fax machine if their managed network needed fixing :-)

Doctors. Nurses. Physician's assistants. Other hospital workers.
And just about everybody but the M.D.'s just got reclassified as
"not a professional degree" which will make it harder for Americans to go to school to get that training,
and even less attractive for immigrants.

Increasing the capacity of US medical schools should've been a priority of Obamacare.

My parents served drinks when they had friends over for bridge parties, but at family holiday dinners the most they did was a glass of sherry; they weren't big drinkers.
There's almost always alcohol now that my generation's hosting.
My wife's NYC Italian family, ofc, served wine and drinks both.

I've still got a landline as a backup and for outgoing faxes,
99% of calls are spam, 1% are electric/gas company outage notifications, and unfortunately I haven't been able to get my printer to accept incoming faxes; I'd been hoping the modem beeps would scare off more spammers than it got fax-spam.

Can you include the Bsky handles of any account you post here?
Because some, like the one I just commented on, are scammers, and the claim that they were verified by Molly Shah is fake.
November 25, 2025 at 2:35 AM
That post is not, of course, by someone actually
"✅Verified by #Molly_Shah"
- they're a fake spammer.

My mail-to-Usenet gateway was tied to a Cypherpunks remailer, and got taken down when somebody posted anti-gay hate spam to Usenet. (Polite request from my ISP, but I couldn't see a good way to make it safe, and I assume the person was targeting gateways on purpose.)

Serdar Argic, who many of us learned more about from posts by Ken Arromdee, who had posted a Thanksgiving Turkey recipe and got reply-spammed by Argic's rants about how the country of Turkey was being horribly slandered.

Aka "The Usenet Death Penalty", which could be applied to sites that tolerated bad users, or to users themselves.

Came here to say that. As long as Elon left a swath of fear and destruction, and took out a few of the harder targets while softening up the rest for Trump's regulars to do later, it was a success.
It didn't save any money? Yeah, but that wasn't a real goal, just an excuse to get started from.
November 25, 2025 at 2:10 AM
Investigating Elon would be "weaponizing DoJ" and they're not only not going to let anyone do that, they'll investigate THEM heavily if they're caught doing so.

1. Monarchs rule by Divine Right of Kings
2. The Divinity or Divinities* are immortal
3. Therefore the Monarchy has an endless time horizon! QED!!
4. (Unless the monarch has lost the Mandate of Heaven, oops.)

* D.R.o.K. doesn't depend on which Divinity/ies are locally popular.

Maybe my wording was ambiguous - I meant "positive outcome" in the context of "things that made voters more likely to vote for him" not "good for society, even a little, in any possible way, shape, or form" because he's essentially never done anything like that :-)

Microcell because that flip phone was probably 2G or at latest 3G, which the telcos have stopped using almost everywhere.
(My wife had to replace her working iPhone 5 when that happened.)
My last contact with ham radio was going to undergrad with KA9Q Phil Karn.

There is probably a Walmart, though, for people who can get to it.
During the first year or so of the pandemic, most of our shopping was at CVS, because we had to go there for drugs anyway, and they had enough things other than fresh veggies (CSA for that) to usually suffice.
