Galaxy Messier 33 in the Constellation Triangulum, sometimes called the "Pinwheel" Galaxy. Photo taken 15 Oct 2025 with my Celestron Origin from Goldendale Sky Village #GSV Washington (the State). Bortle 2 skies. I am amazed by the clarity. #astronomy

Nebula NGC7822, Constellation Cepheus taken with my Celestron Origin Telescope from West Seattle, Bortle 7/8 skies 25 Sept 2025. This nebula is almost impossible to see visually, which may be the reason it doesn't have a common name like "torch flame nebula" or something similar. #astrophotography

Cederblad 214 Nebula part of the NGC7822 cloud in the constellation Cepheus, imaged 5 October 2025 from Bortle 7 skies in West Seattle using my Celestron Origin with nebula filter. About 1 hour exposure, reprocessed a bit on the Origin itself. Arrow lower right indicates north. #astrophotography

The Wizard Nebula, NGC 7380, in the Constellation Cepheus, taken earlier this week with my Celestron Origin telescope in the Bortle 7 skies (that's pretty light-polluted) of West Seattle. 7130 second exposure (about two hours). #astrophotography

Seestar 50 telescope image of the sun this afternoon from Seattle. Quite red because the air is hazy with wildfire smoke from the Bear Gulch fire on the Olympic Peninsula. #astronomy #astrophoto

Late this summer the #AI tech company #Anduril will fly this autonomous fighter jet, Fury, which it hopes to sell to the U. S. military. No cockpit, no human pilot in the plane. The future of warfare? www.cbsnews.com/news/palmer-...

Barnard's Galaxy NGC 6822, constellation Sagittarius, taken with my Celestron Origin smart telescope at Goldendale Sky Village #GSV. Discovered by E. E. Barnard in 1884, it is the closest galaxy to our Milky Way other than satellite galaxies like the Magellanic Clouds. #astrophotograhy #astronomy

The Cocoon Nebula IC 5146 in the Constellation Cygnus the Swan, taken with my Celestron Origin telescope this week from the light polluted skies of Seattle. The nebula is beautiful, but also notable is the dark nebulosity surrounding it, obscuring stars. #astrophotography #astronomy.

The Elephant Trunk nebula, IC1396A, in the constellation Cepheus, captured with a Celestron Origin telescope in my backyard here in light-polluted Seattle. #astronomy #astrophotograhy

The "Cygnus Wall" taken in Seattle's light-polluted skies a couple nights ago with my Celestron Origin imaging telescope. This nebula is really the "Central America" portion of the North America Nebula #NGC7000 which is out of the photo to the upper left. #astrophotography #astronomy

The "Cygnus Wall" taken a few nights ago from Seattle's light-polluted skies with my Celestron Origin telescope. This nebula, in the constellation Cygnus the Swan, is at the bottom, the "Central America" portion, of the more famous North American Nebula #NGC7000. #astronomy

The "Omega" Nebula, aka Messier 17, in the Constellation Sagittarius, taken last week with my Celestron Origin telescope at the Goldendale Sky Village #GSV dark sky site in eastern Washington (the State). Looks a little like a D'deridex-class Romulan warbird from the #StarTrek universe.

For my astrophotography hobby I use a Seestar S50 telescope (made in China 🫣). Excellent product. Here is an image from last night in Seattle's light-polluted skies. This is a spiral galaxy IC342 in the Constellation Camelopardalis (the Camel). Amazing that it wasn't cloudy in Seattle in January!

Yes it has been "cold" in Seattle. "Cold" for us is 32 degrees F or 0 degrees Celsius. But my Canadian friends reminded me today that we are weakling crybabies when it comes to temperature.

Walking my dog Toki in a Seattle alley last night I’m reminded of the song “Memory” from the musical “Cats”. “every street lamp seems to beat, a fatalistic warning.”

The new City of Seattle comprehensive plan goes in front of the Seattle City Council today. It increases density. For example, most lots presently zoned single family will allow 3 to 6 units in the future. Lots of #NIMBY opposition. @publicola.bsky.social publicola.com/2025/01/06/a...

Microsoft is rolling out it's CoPilot #AI in its Office Apps. But can it avoid the Ghost of Clippy? When I'm using Word, for example, I do often resent the CoPilot intrusion. @toddbishop.bsky.social in @geekwire.bsky.social www.geekwire.com/2024/can-mic...
