You write: "We don’t even whisper that no man is above the law in this country anymore." Aren't you then saying that, in acknowledgement of the SCOTUS immunity decision, we are thumbing our noses at the Magna Carta (original 1215, in statutory law 1297)? I doubt that can stand for long.

Indeed there are NOT good people on both sides. But the best hope for those of us who want to resist fascism is to hope that there are still some good people in the Republican majority of the U.S. Senate to stop the most egregious of Trump's upcoming appointments.

For Biden I think the visit was to maintain at least a minimal line of communication and to demonstrate correct conduct. Outside of actual war there is nothing to be gained by burning bridges. That said, I hope that Biden had talking points to deliver when reporters were not present.

And if he doesn't obey, will there be enough stand-up Senate Republicans to convict him in an impeachment? The Senate vote on the second (J6) impeachment was 57 to 43 to convict even with McConnell's contrary recommendation.

Well, you might not think so if your windowing system is twm. (But, yes, it's been there for at least 15 years. The only things you might miss are proprietary items whose proprietor developed them in a dark place and has not ported them.)
