It seams that they’ve pretty much exonerated Bill Clinton. By not redacting his face and name, they are pretty much saying this is all of the Bill Clinton material. Not sure that is what the White House intended.

I worked for a rare company that understood. Management spent time to hire good people and keep them. 30-40 year careers were not remarkable. The best operators were offered management rolls. One guy hired to stack 50 lbs. bags and drive a fork truck is now VP for Safety, Health & Environmental.

Massie is not MAGA, but America First/Libertarian. For a long time, that didn’t matter, but we are starting to see America First split from the MAGA Cult of Trump. At least Massie agrees that powerful men should not rape girls, and the US should not blow up boats just because Hegseth wants to.

I was not clear. I’m not objecting to CRT. The issues are real and must be addressed. I’m saying that when Power tries to check a box to defend their power, instead of addressing the real issues raised by CRT, they can create examples that allow people like Yglesias to write stuff like this.

No it’s not. I worked for a company that was pretty clear about supporting diversity, not checking boxes. My thought is that if Power checks the box instead of engaging with CRT, you get the exceptions that prove the rule (e.g. quotas). The anecdotes that let Yglesias write stuff like this.

Protecting power by throwing younger white males under the bus is not DEI, it is a new verse to an old song.

There was a piece in the NYT this week that inadvertently pointed out how DEI can be harmful. When an entrenched elite (e.g. older, white, & male) decides to check the DEI box instead of internalizing DEI, the things DEI is criticized for often result. 1/

We moved a lot for my job, so we joined many different shuls (9). If the shul is welcoming, great. But even in the most stuffy ones, if you stick around, you’ll find a core group of friendly people. These are the ones who makes things run, not the ones on the board of trustees or on the plaques.

Wife of 38 years and I did this, but for practical reasons. I was in grad school with a roommate and she was living rent free with her parents. Spent 3-4 nights/week together, both her place and mine. That was less stressful than the 6 months after marriage, because roommate still hadn't graduated!

Wasn't someone I knew, but I had dinner with a man in his 50s while volunteering with a homeless program. He was there with his son. They'd had a normal middle class life until his now ex-wife had used all of the family income and savings on cocaine. It's hard to come back from losing everything.

And in this administration, there's a lot of competition for that title.

Reinforces my thought that rather than tear down his ballroom and rebuild the East Wing when he leaves office, we should tear it down and sew the land with salt. Memorialize his presidency with a dead patch of dirt so that future generations do not forget corrupt and evil he is.
