THIS! It seems to me that what counts as “political violence” is already shaped by a white supremacist thought pattern.
The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

My question is, always: what is the difference between political violence and (allegedly) other kinds of violence? Do we count the systematic elimination of people’s healthcare as political violence? What about the mass hate mail and harassment that is directed toward those of us on the left…

This is what I mean.
I was a medic at the Santa Ana protests in OC today.

I watched police fire tear gas, flash bangs, & rubber bullets into crowds of men, women, & children.

Other medics and I were clearly marked with red crosses, and the police were targeting us.

One of the most fucked up things I’ve ever seen.

The way local and national news outlets are covering the protests in LA is kinda disgusting. “Protests turned violent” is a really fucked up way of saying that police and the military are inciting violence.

So-called “less-lethal” weapons like those that have been used against demonstrators in Los Angeles can cause severe, lasting harm like nerve or brain damage or blindness. They can also kill. www.wired.com/story/what-t...

Jonathan Freedland trying to deceive ppl by making it a duel hatred. Before October 7 Palestinians were relegated as to how much water they could have, how many calories, they were routinely shot, arrested, beaten up and had their homes stolen. Before October 7 they were being persecuted…
Sick of this reductive framing as religious/biblical hate/conflict. It makes it irrational, equal(ly so) & understandable but untouchable by logic or law. It's a modern case of settler colonialism & genocide by a state abusing the memory of the Holocaust & using hi-tech weapons & PR.

"These attitudes correlate with a sharp increase in ethno-nationalist ideology in the past 20 years."
The depravity here cannot be overstated.

A recent poll found:

- 82% of Israelis support forced removal of Palestinians from Gaza

- 56% support forced removal of Arab Israeli citizens

- 47% support IDF murdering *all* inhabitants of enemy cities they occupy

I’m sure I’m typing into the void.

But what’s needed at the moment is strategic, tactical, and disciplined resistance.

We cannot put our heads in the sand and hope things will get better. They won’t. This president must be stopped. And we have to do it collectively.

When I was in the 8th grade, I made it to the national spelling bee. I got out on the word “penitentiary.”

It seems I’ve been an abolitionist since I was a pre teen lol

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, now more than ever, we need to honour & remember those that came before us who we’ve lost to anti-trans hatred & violence.

Here’s a list of people just from the US this year alone, though likely incomplete.

Their losses will not be in vain!

Hate will not win!
Here are the 28 transgender Americans lost to violence so far this year
The epidemic of fatal violence against trans people in the U.S. continues.

One of the things I think about quite a bit is that professors *can’t* get sick. We do, but it’s striking to me how missing class—at least for me—feels like it will have repercussions.
