I quit nearly a year ago and have concluded that it was one of the best mental health decisions of my life. It was definitely a depression driver. Both my daily mood and attention span are better and I’m less angry about the world and more motivated to work to better it. The right move for me.

A series of small scale disasters over two days ended in the emergency room with our kid (he’s fine). We were talking about it all when a guy sitting nearby jumps up and says “I have what will make you smile.” He runs a mobile bakery. He gave us fresh apple cobbler. It was so good. 3 big smiles.

That history must be told.

If in 1933 you had asked the average Nazi sympathetic German voter if they would support exterminating the Jews they would have said no, they just need to be put in their place. By 1939 they were all in on the Holocaust. What little humanity they might once have seen in the Jews had been erased.

The Holocaust didn’t happen immediately. It was preceded by several years of increasing dehumanization of Jews by the Nazi government and escalating violence against them. Getting to genocide requires getting the public inured one step at a time. Desensitize the public. Then anything is possible.
