Lots of people off to the gym. I’m going to make a radical suggestion. If possible don’t drive. Walk, run or cycle. Better for your fitness journey and better for the planet (How we ended up in a world where avoiding exercise by driving to the gym to then exercise is a post for another day)

No, of course it hasn’t. It’s a proposed drive thru on a thriving high street. It will encourage driving, choking the high street with congestion and fumes. It’s not compatible with a people-focused, sustainable future. That’s why there’s opposition.

Chris Lowe Push Bikes Cycle Campaign explains why current plans for a Drive Thru MacDonalds are a bad idea. There are ways in which the restaurant could be made more attractive to people walking or cycling. As planned it will increase congestion and pollution.

This is a great point that I didn't consider for a long time.

One of the reasons why I've been hesitant to use the (many) canal routes in town is that many people feel they can be unsafe. Although they might be ok at certain times of day, they aren't always attractive for commuting by bike...
Why city planning needs diverse perspectives.

Touring possible commuter cycling routes.

What I saw - Smooth pavement. Separate from traffic. Shade. Not too busy. Perfect.

What my female partner saw - Blind corners. No lighting. No escape routes. Too few users. Wouldn’t use this route.

Stayed on twitter for longer than I wanted as all the people I was interested in following were still there. Over the last couple of days, everyone has moved over here and I can finally ditch it.

Proper first day of school vibes here with everyone who had gone quiet becoming active again!

Great to see work underway for the Moseley arm of the A38 cycle route.

Am I right in thinking they aren't doing the protected bit in Moseley any more?
