One person’s journey into autism.

I know when I’m regulated because I feel nothing, not anxiety or joy, I’m not excited for something or someone, nor frightened or upset. I just have this complete lack of any kind of emotional energy and a weird sense of connection to myself.

Is that just a me thing?

As someone who discovered they were Autistic in middle age it took me a while to really understand how autism presents for me.
I read a lot and watched hours of YouTube videos.
A side effect of this is I now see how so many people I meet show a touch of the ‘Tism themselves

I concur.
Yes, autistic self-diagnosis is valid: "When we deny the validity of self-diagnosis, we fail to recognize how broken health care systems can be. We effectively restrict our support to those privileged to afford a formal diagnosis." @autisticb4mmr.bsky.social:

Autistic Self-Diagnosis Can Be Both Valid and Necessary
When we deny the validity of self-diagnosis, we fail to recognize how broken health care systems can be, and who is being excluded.

This is a very important read. I’m very black and white in my morals and thinking and often purge a special interest that no longer fits/serves the purpose of regulating me.
In which I try to put my love of alternative rock and all of the terrible people in it to some good use for community.
How can autistic people cope, when their passions or special interests become irretrievably flawed, or get canceled? Stellar advice from @fodderfigure.bsky.social, new at TPGA
