The first public schools. Attempts from 1853 to 1856 to establish free, public public common schools in Allen county were unsuccessful. This banner carried in public rallies during the free school campaign. Common School movement finally succeeded by appealing to fears that church-related schools were not teaching children proper American values. The first permanent public school building opened on the corner of Washington and Clay streets in 1857.

I expected it to be harder. That may be it wouldn't be like owning dogs. It not. Just different. A little weirder at times. They're just little guys.

Yup. Smallest of my two cats, that has the constitution of a frail Victorian child, Percy. Named for Percy De Rolo from critical roll. Apt name because he's always taking apart machines to see how they work.
