I watched #halftime show.

If you didn’t like it, my guess is you don’t listen to #KendrickLamar. You don’t get the context or the meaning behind the choices.

He wasn’t trying to entertain you. You missed the point of why music is such an influential form of protest.

Great media jacking action yesterday at the #superbowl as one of performer Kendrick Lamar's dancers takes over the show waving a #palestine #sudan flag. #WeAreEverywhere.

Serena Williams has always been somewhat tight-lipped about her thing with Drake but the fact that over a DECADE later Kendrick called her and said “hey do you want to crip walk to the song I wrote calling your ex a predator at the Super Bowl?” AND SHE SAID YES tells me everything I need to know

Kendrick just explained in detail what it's like to be Black [and an entertainer/artist] in America. If your biggest takeaway is his beef with Drake, you missed the point.

Kendrick's halftime performance was incredible. It was a master class in theme and layered storytelling and it was unapologetically Black. There's a lesson there for creative people to be fearless as we grow and never be afraid to be yourself. Someone is always going to have an opinion. Just do YOU.
