I understand the federated aspect of Mastodon, and setting up one's own instance seems ... straightforward. But what about the federation aspects of this platform? What are the pluses and minuses? How does it work? Anyone have their own instance? Any good treatises? Thanks in advance!

What’s the difference between a gov controlling an algorithm, silently eliminating reach for things it doesn’t like, vs the same gov using its power, to demand that the platform remove the things it doesn’t like.?

I love my 2021 F-150 Powerboost. Highway MPG of ~30? Check. Able to tow a full 4-horse bumper pull? Check. Carry a bed full of IKEA? Check. Comfortable and great stereo? Check. Powers most of my home during a hurricane? Check. ❤️

I created a local MQTT server last night. I've been using the @home-assistant.io MQTT plugin forever, but as I add more workloads to MQTT - like Frigate, DoubleTake, and CompreFace - I wanted to make sure that those workloads remained operational if HA didn't. It was much easier than I expected!

I took my first improv comedy class tonight. It was fun! I was the only person in the class, which was both delightful and sad. Comedy is more fun when there are others around to laugh with.
