The 1964 Topps Giants is a great set.

He was fun to watch. One of my favorites.

An overlooked legend.

Looks like Saquon isn't playing today to accomplish this, but if he played it would have happened. Time to say bye to Joe Schoen. You let Barkley go without a fight and look at the Giants now.

Those backs took their games to the next level while the teams became laughingstocks of the NFL.

I have long thought the positions will evolve and once again be evaluated in the eyes of the fan. This NYT opinion piece does a great job discussing the reemergence of the running back position. The Giants and the Titans didn't want to pay their big-time backs so they moved onto new teams.

There are a lot of great convention and show sets.

The set was issued by the Great Plains Sports Collectors Association in conjunction with their annual show.

I have watched the Mets for almost 50 years. The team lacks homegrown position player legends. Wright got hurt. Strawberry and Reyes left. Lasting Milledge didn’t pan out. I have waited for a guy to come up through the Mets system, produce at a high level, and spend the majority of his career a Met.

The Mets had him for cheap since 2019. He has been a positive force in the clubhouse and in the community. He plays hard and everyday. He has a chance to be an all-time Mets icon and to hold many of their offensive records. I think he is a good defender and great at picking the ball at first.

I thought he just missed two columns. 😂

I get what you were saying. I just thought it was an opportunity to give a shout out to a guy who came before us HOF junkies who are constantly evaluating potential inductees.

Joe Overfield was more than just “some guy.” He is a giant among baseball historians and one of the first to write about Hall of Fame candidates. I’m an Overfield fan. 😊

We did see Rickey a bunch of times in Cooperstown.

We did see Chuck Knoblauch’s MLB debut. 😊

I am stunned too. He died way too young.

I saw Rich Murray play with the Phoenix Giants in the late 1970s.

I was hoping for 3 but it wasn’t even close. My top 4 were Harris, Allen, Tiant and Parker so I should be happy at least two got in and one is alive.

I know the arguments against but he was considered a HOFer when he was playing, at least that was my thinking when I watched him play - always coming up big during the biggest moments plus his playing streak, all-star games, MVPs and 200 hit seasons.
