It was an insane policy to me. If a store thinks an item is worth buying to resell why would it matter that you bought it from them on the cheap in the first place?

As a kid I bought a ton of comics from a small chain of second hand bookstore. They would cut the corner of the cover off comics from their bargain box. I begged them not to do it. Told me it was so they knew I got a bargain if I tried to sell them back. Probably 40 years later & I’m still mad.
