I’d say so too. Britain is a really shitty place at the mo, with rather a lot of deeply unpleasant people in it. I didn’t expect some of them to be in the Labour government, but I’ve been very much disabused of such a silly notion.

Tbh, this isn’t surprising, horrific as it is. Colonial powers did this - look at what happened to indigenous populations around the world, particularly First Nations peoples in USA. ISRAEL is doing this, and has done for decades. How many Americans & Brits flocked to Gaza to go on a shooting spree?
