Gadzooks. Don’t need much to remember how grim the situation is with #DCU, but this photo really drives it home. Ex-STH and I don’t ever recall seeing the stadium this full for the black and red.

They’re covering themselves, my man! Galaxy brain move honestly, because they can now control the narrative. According to their latest FB post, “Energy’s up. Spirits are high. We’re building something.” I for one am glad to know that. Here we were freaking out about nothing!

You forgot a third possibility: there was nothing to say because this roster is already built to compete in the playoffs and we just needed a new coach 🙃

I honestly hope not. He has dropped off this year, but so has just about everyone else on this squad. I still view him as one of the few positions on the team that doesn’t require turnover in order to be competitive. That list isn’t very long.

I maintain that #DCU has a lot of good players in terms of what they produce compared to what they are paid. The big problem is that we want most of those guys coming off the bench or starting only in rotation scenarios. We realistically need at least five more starting quality players.

Every time #DCU related thoughts have limped through my brain over the past two weeks, this exact gif has been the visual form they took.

One other sad stat to note after tonight: #DCU now has the worst defense AND the worst offense in the league, at least in terms of goals scored. This franchise needs to be drop-kicked into the sun.

The reality is this club has put itself in a position in which literally anything they do or say (or don’t do or don’t say) will incite what’s left of the fans, because the social credit is gone. Time to put up or shut up—hopeful or nostalgic social media posts won’t cut it anymore.

To me, this shows that ownership doesn’t care as much about the soccer as they do the big names that sell tickets. Also, the prudence of the plan completely aside, it’s somewhat delusional because #DCU isn’t exactly a destination for big European names, Rooney and Benteke notwithstanding.

Ha. We have had abysmal years before, but there was always another lever to pull. Get a new stadium, fire Ben, start spending money, fire Kasper, get rid of bad contracts, and so on. What levers are left to pull now?

No playoffs in 6 years (no wins in 9), constant coaching carousel, homegrowns sold/sidelined, media coverage vanishing, absolutely starched at home on legacy night, fans divesting emotionally and financially. Is this is the lowest point in #DCU history? Please debate, with yourself, I guess.

Can’t remember it as anything at all if you don’t watch it 🙃

Yeah, I’m in no way defending Losada. His firing had as much to do with his abrasiveness as it did the product on the field, but he was still a scapegoat for a front office that thought their team was better than it was. Feels like we are at the start of another 3-year futility cycle.

Objectively, I would like to have Yow back on this team and park Stroud on the bench. Subjectively, I hate how stupid it is that we are shopping for a player we couldn’t/wouldn’t develop and sold for nothing. Also, if there is a universe in which Yow wants to come back, it ain’t this one.
July 10, 2025 at 8:31 PM
“His club loved him.” Everyone said the exact same thing about Losada when he came over and look how that worked out. I’ll have hope again when we fill our DP/U22 slots (with, y’know, good players), launch an MLSNP team, and advance in (not just make) the playoffs. All smoke & mirrors until then.

I feel absolutely nothing, other than a pang of pity for Troy. Here we go again.
July 10, 2025 at 2:02 PM
No well-established coach with options will take the job, but, at this point, what up-and-comer with a promising future would take it either? DCU just axed a young guy without ever untying both his hands from behind his back.
July 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM
2. Barring a miraculous late-season recovery sparked by a talisman summer signing, should Ally and Troy both be fired after the season?
June 29, 2025 at 6:39 AM
@rfkrefugees.bsky.social I’m just going to kick off questions for the next pod. 1. What percentage of the blame for this abysmal team should be assigned each to Troy, Ally, and ownership?
June 29, 2025 at 6:36 AM
True or false: Antley has played himself into the starting 11 over the past two games.
May 5, 2025 at 6:54 PM
Is it just me or can DCU literally not mark up in the box? Rapids should have been up 1-0 in the first few minutes because DCU left Mihailovic wide open on the back post. Seems like a common way they give up goals. Are they just not rotating quickly enough? Just falling asleep? What gives?

Do we give credit to Mackay for signing Servania—who was awesome last game—or are we annoyed with him that he seemingly whiffed on Peltola and Enow so bad that Servania is playing at all?
