Because it was a bed, there couldn’t be any cracks or spaces for them to fall through. So sides and angles came into play.

That’s awesome! We did that in first grade! For those Ss we had intros about how football works, how pts can be scored, and how many pts tds, fgs, and extra points are worth. And some1st grade fans understood about safeties and 2 point conversions etc and included this possibilities. #ElemMathChat

Libo! A4 I love these! We did this in PreK. After reading a book about a puppy trying to build himself a bed out of blocks, students designed beds that would fit their puppy. #ElemMathChat

#3 I’m thinking right now about football with the playoffs Finding the difference in scores between teams can influence whether a team punts or goes for 4th down or settles for a field goal or tries for the touchdown or even a 2 point conversion. #elemmathchat

Q5: I’m late to this conversation so apologies. One book I love is Seven Little Rabbits. “7 little rabbits go walkin down the road” and 1 by 1, a rabbit gets tired and goes down to Mole’s. 7-0, 6-1.. counting, combos, algebraic thinking. For 3s, PreK, K… stuffed animals and rekenreks.

Couldn’t 17-10, in a certain context, be that you have 17 jellybeans, I have 10, and wondering what is the difference which is to match your 17 against my 10 and you having 7 more or me having 7 less?
