The Grimsdale Claimant

Robots! Babbage engines! Pneumatic trains! Ersatz-Theosophy! Music hall performers! Time-travellers! Egyptian ghosts! Alien bats! Uh… Victorian lady bodybuilders with psychic powers! (last one is a little niche, I guess, but you never know.)

Nearly finished my Christmas present for my wife. New caddy for her gardening tools. My daughter is going to paint a design on it, so it will be a collaborative gift.

While you’re at it, why not grab the sequel? It’s about the messy inheritance of a vast fortune and an attempt to create a godlike AI that goes catastrophically wrong. Right up your alley!

Are you a billionaire? Has someone accused you of never reading books? Quick, read this one!

You’ll like it, because there’s a character in it who is the world’s richest man. He has a rocketry program, & he’s a real piece of shit. You can’t say it’s not relatable!

When I was little, I was given a kids’ carpentry set, which was mostly just endless frustration that I couldn’t get the plane to work. One of the reasons I love doing woodwork is that raising a pile of shavings is like a triumph for my 7 year old self.

Yay, physical copy of my book finally arrived! (Because I forgot to order it before.)

Steampunk folk versus sewer-dwelling moon-monsters, how can you say no?

Ready in time for Halloween. Now, just have to make sure my daughter and her friends don’t try to kill each other with them.

Mysterious Aisles, a strange little book about a bunch of weirdos who work in a big-box hardware store who come together to fight Nazis.

Speculative novels that will leave you saying 'please, sir, I want some more.'

(Only don't call me 'sir,' it's weird.)

A quote from my novel ‘The Grimsdale Claimant.’

The story draws from the real-life case of the Tichfield Claimant, albeit with more steam-mechas, occultist cults and time-travelling ghosts than the original.

You can find it here, other platforms coming soon.

The Grimsdale Claimant‘

A conference between Britain and the moon is attacked.

The Queen’s computing office is at war with a sinister cult.

How does this all connect to an Australian butcher’s claim to the world’s largest private fortune? Charlie and Gladys are on the case!

‘Champagne Charlie and the Amazing Gladys,’ the adventures of an irritable music-hall performer and a drunken aristocrat, as they investigate a conspiracy that ties the world’s richest man to giant bats in the London sewers.
