The Roberts Court at this point is basically what if the Lochner Court had the racial views of the Dred Scott Court, but also Article I doesn't exist.

Hope there are still some NPS park rangers down there for when these guys inevitably get heat exhaustion.
Drug Enforcement Administration officers patrolling the National Mall.

If you know DC you understand how tremendously goofy this is

Man, living through the "eff around and find out" phase of a future season of the Revolutions podcast sucks.

We used to be a proper country where real men had secretaries to handle all communication with their wives. Look what they've taken from us, lol.
Grounds for divorce imo

I don't think most millennials are ready for how badly cooked their boomer family members who still use Facebook are about to be with the oncoming avalanche of AI slop that's going to hit them.

This Supreme Court is a reactionary institution dedicated to dismantling the US as a multi-ethinic, secular state. And it's decisions today should all be viewed in that light.

Celebrating Liberation Day by dropping my phone into the sink and knowing that with tariffs I'll never be able to afford another smartphone again

While it's very possible that it acts quickly to lift a stay, if the Supreme Ct doesn't require the Trump admin to immediately return this man, we will be beyond any constitutional limits on the government's power to render people to foreign jails. Truly a tipping point for our constitutional order.
NEW: Chief Justice Roberts has issued an administrative stay in the Abrego Garcia case, temporarily relieving the Trump administration of its duty to return him from El Salvador. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Since the tariff policy is going so well, why stop at external tariffs? Trump should allow states to tariff goods coming from other states to ensure jobs don't flee to other states. Why should Ohio have to let Texas take all its manufacturing jobs.

This is an example of the damage that textualism has done to our legal process. There is no question the 22nd amend prohibits a person from serving more than two terms as president. But because our courts are textualist pilled, we have to treat this nonsense as if it's somehow a legitimate argument
the constitution says you must be 35 to be eligible to serve as president. now, let’s say a presidential nominee was born on february 29, 1972, a leap year. and let’s say they were running in 2024. now, technically, they would only be 13. you could say they were ineligible. but that’s stupid! (1)

Tldr Schumer: if we don't vote to give permission for trump do terrible things and dismantle the government, he will do terrible things and dismantle the government.
SCHUMER just now: "While the CR bill is very bad, the potential for a shutdown has consequences for America that are much, much worse."

Seems clear that because Biden made cancer research a priority, Trump and MAGA are now forced to be pro-cancer.

@patrickwyman.bsky.social your interview with Prof Carroll is an S-tier Tides episode. The discussion on factionalism during the revolution and 19th century and it's relationship to levels of societal violence was really eye opening. Would love to see an "American Gentry" esque essay on the subject!
