We have had no moisture up here, no monsoon at all, so I guess the grass isn't coming back any time soon. Allegedly the strike was quite a distance from where they began the burn. It will all come out at some point anyway. Meanwhile I feel so bad for the ranchers up there with their burned cattle.

I was just trying to come up with something that would make it worth burning so much land in one place. It certainly was not to help the rangeland, so what else could it be? I hope not burning just because they could.

The Forest Service is, but they will move mountains not to make the ranchers whole. Was the idea behind 30,000+ acres burned that they are trying to establish a timber planation on that plateau?

Could mean some of the grass forage was burned. Setting up expectations to reduce stocking rates for fire recovery? Give new cover some time to increase....?

No mention of aviation, a measure of effort. I would have like a general description of the types involved: PJ woodland with 60% grass cover, Ponderosa pine at low density, oak scrub beneath....etc.
