You can try to ban DEI, but you can never ban the thoughts that we need diversity to achieve excellence, we need equity to level the playing field, and we need inclusion to unite people towards common goals and problem solving. No one can police those thoughts and values.

Humiliation of a human being or group of people is an act of violence. Words can be used as bullets.

Per Dr Atul Gawande, ex USAID: “All malaria supplies protecting 53 million people, mostly children, including bed nets, diagnostics, preventive drugs, and treatments – terminated.”

There are no words that sufficiently describe this level of cruelty and sadism.

“Politicians are allowed to criticize the press,” writes the editorial board. “But there is a difference between using language and using muscle.” The Trump administration “is mustering the arms of government to suppress speech it doesn’t like and compel words and ideas it prefers.”

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

"When wealth is passed off as merit, bad luck is seen as bad character. This is how ideologues justify punishing the sick and the poor. But poverty is neither a crime nor a character flaw. Stigmatize those who let people die, not those who struggle to live."

Election reflection: we were flooded with maps colored red and blue to describe us. Like colors of jerseys for team sports. But governing is not a game. When we choose sides - red or blue, drunk on winning - we can lose our identity of being human. Caring. Awareness of others. Critical judgement.
