Every question from the senators should have been job specific like this. This demonstrates lack of preparedness. This could have convinced 3 republicans he isn’t the right one for the job
YIKES! Duckworth asks Hegseth to name a country that's in ASEAN. He names three -- none of which are in ASEAN.

"I suggest you do a little homework," she says.

This is WaPo's framing of today's Pam Bondi hearing: “She walked a very fine line on election denial and Trump prosecuting his enemies.”

Here's Democracy Docket's: “Bondi refused to say who won the 2020 election.”

A key asymmetry of this era of American politics and how it’s covered is that Trump is expected to do bad and corrupt things, so when he does it barely qualifies as news. But Dems are expected to be beyond reproach, so anything that seems even slightly suspect is a huge scandal.

MONTHS AFTER Joe said he would not pardon Hunter, Trump won the election & appointed a man as FBI Director who has spent the last 4 years on every right-wing podcast ranting that he was going to go after Hunter. Obsessed with him. Were you aware of that, critics? Not relevant?

As much as MAGA wants to make it so, Hunter wasn’t pardoned for anything related to their fantasy that Joe got money from Ukraine. Comer held years of hearings on it and wouldn’t even hold a vote on it because he knew it would fail. Don’t let them rewrite the history of this too.

Another bad thing about Trump's coming "deep state" purge: It'll mean fewer people left to blow the whistle when big appointees like Kash Patel engage in corruption.

On the pod, CAP's Michael Sozan explains why this will lead to "kakistocracy." Our exchange on this:
