Transport costs are keeping 5m people below the poverty line. We're calling on the Chancellor to:

• End the fuel duty cut & freeze
• Introduce a per-mile charge for EVs
• Increase tax on private jets
• Prioritise public transport

As more people switch to EVs, revenue from fuel duty will plummet.

Govt should set out a process for introducing a per-mile charge for EVs. This would be fair, and avoid a budget black hole.

The charge should be low, so it's still cheaper to drive a cleaner car.

With 6 other orgs, we have written to the Chancellor ahead of next month's Budget urging her to reclaim £4.2 billion a year in lost revenue by allowing the "temporary" 5p fuel duty cut to come to an end and ending the 14-year fuel duty freeze.
