Since moving to rural MO three years ago, my family has experienced two, life-altering, 🔫 violence related incidents- traumatic events, and no one was physically hurt in either incident. I never experienced one case of 🔫 violence in urban or suburban KC. I lived there 40 years.

When we think about the choices we have as women today, let's not romanticize the sacrifices of the women who came before us. They endured and fought so we could live our lives with more freedom and autonomy.

The Northeast News in KC has always had a special place in my heart. Not only because I grew up there but because it was my first experience with local journalism and the outlet has always done SUCH a great job highlighting local voices.
