Here is a bar chart of NC Latinos' presidential vote choice over time based on Exit Poll and Latino Decisions data. While NC Latino support for Republican candidates has been and is generally lower than the US Latino population's support, it still went up in 2020 and 2024.

In 2016, 41% of NC Latinos (quite comparable to the the US Latino percentage) noted that they would consider voting for a Republican candidate in the future if their immigration policies including providing a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

In 2016, using Latino Decisions polling data, I find that Latinos overwhelmingly supported Clinton, and Trump’s hostile immigration rhetoric hurt his chances of winning the Latino vote. Still, I noted that Democrats cannot count on all North Carolina Latinos’ loyalty.

On #NCLatinos and the #2016Election: The share of eligible millenial Latinos make up the largest share of Latinos eligible to vote of all age categories and the percentage of eligible young Latinos is strikingly larger than any racial group of the same age category.
