We're only 20% into the book and all these things are being revealed but...why do I care? I'm still learning about this world and these characters and suddenly all these big plot drops are hitting and I'm just like ....okay?

Helena was the resistance's animancer. The Eternal Flame knew how to kill The Undying. The bad guys are trying to create a breeding program to make their own animancer. Ferro is the source of the big bad guy's (can't remember his name) power.

So much is being revealed all at once, and I still have very little context for any of it so its not having the intended effect on me as a reader.

Oh so that means she can manipulate minds? So she probably erased her own memories?
I don't know if this is the grand reveal its supposed to be though, because isn't the whole reason they're keeping H around and prodding her brain is because they suspect her memories were erased on purpose?

The downside of the audiobook is that I hear something batshit and assume I heard wrong, because it's absolutely batshit. But because its on Spotify, if I rewind, I lose listening time.
