I'm teaming up with @stephjohnphoto.bsky.social in 2026 to lead a Midwest Photo/Creativity Retreat as part of @naturephotoclasses.bsky.social, and we'd love your input on locations! Here's the quick survey to give us feedback: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F... #midwestphotography #photographyworkshop

Oof. I've been Bluesky negligent 🤦‍♀️ Here's some eye candy to bring me back into the fold. These are in-camera ME abstractions of Gordon Huether's 2020 art installation at Salt Lake City International Airport, "The Canyon."

My guest for this week's Pixels podcast is the amazing Michele Sons. These are some images I created in Oct that reflect a sense of experimentation and play Michele encourages us to embrace. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhIP...

I can't resist sharing this pic I took last night of my sweet Gracie Belle. She is, of course, looking at me so intently because I'm holding a treat that she is eager to enjoy. Dogs are balm for the soul 🤎🤎🤎

Estes Textures

From rough wood + sparkling snow to icy bubbles + ancient lichen...Marys Lake, Lily Lake, and Sprague Lake in/near Estes Park, CO, offered diverse delights for the visually curious 🤩. Sixteen small scenes from all three lakes, Feb 2025. #winterphotography #rmnp #textures

Curvelicious

Photographed on an icy lake in Rocky Mtn NP. Those curves! 😍 And bonus: just feet from where I took this, I also experienced a new-to-me word: postholing. 😂

Thanks, Anke! Here's the object :-) I had it placed on a lightpad so it was backlit and then did in-camera ME in Dark Mode. It was fun playing with different blend modes, tones, and compositions!

I find it therapeutic and energizing to take a break from photographing and spend time with ink, paper, and brushes. Alcohol inks are a new obsession. They're similar to ICM: abstract, unpredictable, versatile, addictive, FUN.

"Nearly everything awesome takes longer than you think. Get started and don't worry about the clock." - @jamesclear.bsky.social --> YES, esp. for creative endeavors. Awesomeness needs expansiveness, grace, patience, persistence, and trusting the process.

Illumination
.
While at the US Botanic Garden last week, it was full sun while I was in the desert portion of the conservatory. It was an "all the wrong light in all the wrong places" situation, so I used ICM to make the best of it. This soft light, is it coming or going? Where from or where to? 🤔

Second batch of tumbled rocks after stage one (coarse grit). All rocks collected on West Grand Traverse Bay on Old Mission Peninsula (MI). Some look polished because they're wet, but even in their unpolished state, they're amazing. I expect the full tumbling run to be completed by early February.

I've got you.

I love the relationship between these leaves... they seem to be supporting one another, which is a reminder of community and hope in this messed up yet still beautiful world.

Spiral grass, native to South Africa.

Hi Bsky! Making my inaugural post with a favorite image taken last week. I call her "Drama Queen." She's quite the diva!
