So how’d bending the knee work out for ya, Jeff?
Leaked memo from Amazon that warns existing H1B holders to avoid travel back into the USA after the September 21st deadline - their lawyers evaluated the new executive order as not just affecting new applications

Curious if others have had noticeably different experiences re-entering the US - meaning as compared even to just last month. Because … yikes y’all. Legit wondering if maybe now’s the time 😬

Someone help me out here, I feel like there must be some subtle similarity between all three of the cities where Trump has been sending National Guard troops, can’t quite put my finger on it what could it be…

IT’S TOO SOON TO TALK ABOUT WHAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED THIS
Let’s not politicize the Charlie Kirk shooting. This is a time for thoughts and prayers.

This coverage of Charlie Kirk is absurd.

As a veteran, peacenik, anti-gun nut, and proud liberal, I do not advocate violence of any kind.

Kirk used his politics as a weapon, and aimed to hurt innocent people.

I am not celebrating his death, but I am lamenting the demise of truth in this country.

Some mornings I wake up and try to plan out my day, which things I have to prioritize, which meetings I have, etc.

Other mornings I wake up and read the words “US Attorney Pirro” and just reach for the whiskey because fuck this timeline 🫠
US Attorney Pirro's office admits grand jury refused ICE interference charges — twice
Federal prosecutors told a judge they had failed twice to secure an indictment against Sydney Lori Reid for allegedly assaulting an FBI agent during an ICE arrest.

"We've spent a lot of money on the military and now they have nothing to do so we might as well let the president use it domestically to satisfy his own petty grudges" is precisely why the Founders feared a standing army.

I mean, it's pretty much fucking verbatim.
Comer: "We're gonna support doing this in other cities if it works out in Washington DC. We spend a lot on our military. Our military has been in many countries around the world for the past two decades walking the streets trying to reduce crime. We need to focus on the big cities in America now."

Because she was asking for a robot friend, @quinnypig.com introduced our 4-year-old to ChatGPT’s voice mode. She was immediately enamored and I suddenly felt, for the first time in my life, a visceral kinship with Dr. Pulaski 😬 #sorryData

The kids were too tired and bored to march, but I’m proud of them for making signs and holding them up and being part of a historic moment. Hopefully one that’s in a footnote to a story of how people stemmed the tide of fascism, rather than to a story about the American third reich. #nokings

A thing I actually said tonight to my nearly 8-year-old child: “when you comport yourself favorably around others, others are drawn to you. Does that make sense?”

She, nodding sagely: “yeah. I mean, a little.”

Reader, I’m not sure *I* entirely followed myself.

WHO COULD HAVE PREDICTED THIS
Many conservatives who fought against cancel culture on college campuses and championed free speech are now behind a growing crackdown on political expression at universities, in ways that try to sidestep the Constitution’s free-speech guarantees.
Republicans Once Championed Free Speech on Campus. Now, Not So Much.
President Trump and state politicians are pushing new laws and policies that crack down on curriculum, protests and speakers.

I rhetorically ask: “do I have a gravitational pull or something” and OH MY GOD NOW I KNOW WHY THEY CALL IT “MOTHER” EARTH

Between this and the tariffs on Mexico (from whom the US gets a huge percentage of its food), later this year complaints about the price of eggs will seem quaint.
For a photo op & a bragging media post, Trump minions at the USACoE have thrown away millions of gals of #water farmers were relying on for later this year. This water will not be captured, will not be useful for cities or farms or firefighting. It is now lost.
